The Storks of Marin General Hospital

goals

The Stork’s current goal is to raise money for the Lactation Center's newest, exciting program.  “Baby Friendly," is a computer-based educational program about helping new moms breastfeed.    Every person who has contact with new mothers and newborns at the hospital, from housekeepers, to dietitians, to doctors, will take this computerized breastfeeding education course.  The Storks will contribute funds for these educational breast feeding computer programs and training.

Some of our continuing successes include:

bullet

Supplying a glider/rocker in every maternity room for moms and babies to enjoy in their early, sleepy days at the hospital.

bullet

Salary funding for a Spanish-speaking Lactation Consultant

bullet

An additional Lactation Consultant on the Maternity Floor

bullet

New, top-of-the-line Medela Symphony Breast Pumps to help new mothers and babies with early breastfeeding success.  Having access to one of these pumps encourages a mother's breast milk to come in earlier and have more volume.

bullet

A new, highly accurate scale for the neo-natal unit.

bullet

A well-stocked Lending Library of Breastfeeding-related literature and videos available for free checkout.

bullet

A Peer-Counseling program at the Marin Community Clinic.
